Support the OC&T

Donations: Your donations are tax-deductible. The OC&T is owned by the Oil Creek Railway Historical Society, which is approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit historical and educational public foundation.  Any amount donated is greatly appreciated. Receipts will be mailed if requested, or automatically for donations over $250. Your financial support will help us restore antique cars and buildings, as well as provide historical displays so youth are able to understand the interaction of railroads and the petroleum industry during the beginnings of both.

Memberships: Our volunteer organization is called Friends of the Railroad (FORR). FORR holds monthly meetings to plan its projects and an annual dinner for volunteers. We prepare and distribute newsletters from time to time. New members close enough to participate regularly are encouraged to help out. There are many jobs FORR's members perform for the OC&T. Members living nearby are encouraged to volunteer (see below). Click the button for your membership application.

Volunteering:

The OC&T depends on its volunteers to:

  1. Maintain and improve its rolling stock and buildings.
Car restoration work begins the weekend after Easter. There's always somebody at the station with a "to-do" list, tools, and supplies. The Car Knocker Gang welcomes you. How many people can say they restored a 76 year old car?

  2. Staff the stations' ticket sales, concession, and souvenir areas.
Sales personnel work whenever the train runs. Perry Street opens at 9:00 AM. Rynd Farm opens at 11:00 AM. Hours change on October weekends.

  3. Serve as tour guides, postal clerks, and train safety and sales staff.
Our train is one of the friendliest in the country. We are always concerned with the passengers' safety, education, and enjoyment. We need 20 volunteers every day we run.

  4. Assist with administrative work in our office, doing bulk mailings, printing newsletters, and mailing paperwork to Board members.

  5. Bake cookies for our annual Santa Specials. Hundreds of riders are treated to cookies and cocoa after the runs.

All volunteers ride the train free. These areas all require some training or familiarization. Tell any volunteer of your interest the next time you ride the OC&T, contact us by mail or phone at the below address, click the above button,  or email us. We look forward to working with you to make the OC&T even better.
